Europe 2014 Day 3
Bam Brian and Jack went to Vatican museum. Me Mario and Jamie went and sat at a small café and drank cappuccinos for a two hours, which is a pretty great way to spend a morning in Rome. When we were finished, we went back to apartment and sat on the terrace for a bit. Bam texted that they were near the end of the tour and then they would be ready to meet up with us to ascend the cupola.
They ended up having to exit the museum on the side; so they had to walk all the way around Vatican City, but they eventually made their way to us. We explored the church for a while and then got in line to head up to the top. We took the first section of steps at a olympian's pace, bounding quickly and spiraling toward the summit. This was a miscalculation, as we were all exhausted for the last section of stairs.
The view from the top was just as stunning as I remember. We took some pics and enjoyed the view for about 15 minutes before making the descent.
We took some back roads and headed towards the leather shop that Mom and Tom went to last year. It took us a while to walk over there, but none of us were disappointed once we found it.
Mario and Brian each bought beautiful messenger bags, I bought 3 belts and two wallets, Mario bought more belts along with Jamie and Jack. Aldo, who makes everything in the store, is a master craftsman and his products are true pieces of art. Truly one of the coolest stores I've ever been in.
We opted to take the metro home and drop off our new gear before heading out to dinner. We went to dinner at a restaurant called "Falcone" which was really close to our apartment. The food was excellent. The spaghetti amatriciana was incredible. Probably the best pasta of the trip.
We headed home and started packing our bags. We leave for Croatia in the morning.
